Robots for Emergency Response
Sunday, 9 March 2008, 9:30 - 3:30
This workshop will feature talks pertaining to the application of robots to various facets of emergency response. The applications can include, but are not limited to, urban search and rescue, bomb-disposal or other explosive mitigation, hazardous material inspection and cleanup. Although the requirements for using robots in these different applications vary, there may be some common areas of technology that could be shared.
This workshop’s goals are:
- dissemination of research in response robotics of various types
- establishment of common operational environment characteristics or requirements to guide development of technologies and of performance measures
- promoting dialogue between technology developers and responders from various backgrounds to stimulate greater progress
Workshop Organizers: Adam Jacoff, Raj Madhavan, Elena Messina
